6.3% of children from 6 months to 5 years have already completed the scheme against COVID-19

(CRHoy.com) 6.3% of minors 6 months to 5 years they already have the 3 doses of the vaccine against COVID-19 and with this they completed the vaccination scheme against that virus.

In this way it is evident in the Integrated Vaccine System (SIVA) of the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) to the cutoff of the previous February 6.

The specialists of the Fund remember that, in this age group, the second vaccine is given 21 days after the first; and the third is applied 2 months after the second.

“Parents and guardians are invited to be aware of the vaccination dates of the three-dose scheme, to provide timely protection for infants. The institution still has doses available for this population, Therefore, parents are reminded of the importance of approaching vaccinations and thus protect their children”, commented Leandra Abarca, from the Epidemiological Surveillance sub-area.

The specialist recalled that three doses are required to have the complete scheme and that this vaccine is applied to the thigh to children from more than 6 months to less than 2 years and to children older than 2 years and children under 5 years of age are applied to the arm. Regarding the side effects, they explained that so far they have been mild, so there should be no concern for parents.

“It is of the utmost importance that the entire population is protected against this virus, to reduce the risk of hospitalizations and deaths due to COVID-19. Let’s remember that vaccines save lives,” added Diana Paniagua, from Epidemiological Surveillance.
