Dresden. Early Thursday morning, between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m., there was a fire in a snack bar on Lockwitzer Strasse in the Strehlen district. When firefighters arrived, the building was already on fire.
Despite the cold temperatures outside, firefighters were able to quickly bring the fire under control. The extinguishing water froze on the sidewalk and street, so that the winter service had to move in.
Lockwitzer Straße was completely closed during the extinguishing work, which also had an impact on public transport. Tram lines 9 and 13 and bus lines 63 and 68 had to be diverted.
Nobody was hurt. According to the police, final information on the damage to property is not yet available. The snack bar was a kebab shop. A few weeks ago there was a fire in a neighboring Asian market.
There is currently no evidence of intentional arson. At the same time, police are looking for witnesses who noticed something between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. that could be connected to the fire. The Dresden police department takes tips on 0351 4832233. (SZ/juj)
