Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin said she does not exclude the possibility of supplying fighter jets to Ukraine. According to her, Finland is ready to provide assistance to Ukraine and discuss the supply of heavy weapons.
“I don’t want to rule anything out at this stage. I think it is very important that we give a clear signal to Ukraine,” said Sanna Marin. Politico after the end of the EU summit in Brussels.
“We are ready to help in any way possible for as long as it is needed, and we should also discuss heavier weapons,” she added.
Ukraine has requested delivery of the fighters after Germany and the US approved the transfer of Leopard 2 and Abrams heavy tanks. Deliveries of fighters were not ruled out in the UK, Poland, the Netherlands and France, but under certain conditions. In Germany, they said that they would not supply fighters, as they did not want to become a party to the conflict. As Bloomberg wrote, so far none of the leaders of the EU countries has agreed to hand over the fighters.
