The Chinese MTT S80 GPU has PCI Gen5, 16GB of VRAM and will run Crysis in DX9

Another interesting piece of hardware from the Chinese swamps and groves is the graphics card MTT S80 from the company Moore Threads. This card appeared in one test on YouTube where a reviewer was given it to try out. The build included an Intel Core i5-10400 processor and an ASRock B560M-HDV motherboard. The MTT 280 has a full-fledged Chunxiao chip with 4096 MUSA stream processors, which should offer a raw performance of 14.4 TFLOPS in FP32 at a frequency of 1.8 GHz. This is a graphics card that even uses a PCI Gen5 x16 interface, however it is highly doubtful that this would do the card any good at all. It will offer a very respectable 16GB of GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit bus. It can handle output in 8K resolution, and if you choose, for example, Full HD, it should reach a frequency of up to 360 Hz. 3D rendering, processing of artificial intelligence algorithms and others are also intended for players. It also includes units for encoding and decoding AV1, HEVC and H.264 formats.

So it looks like a pretty decent iron with theoretical performance somewhere at the level of today’s mainstream (eg RTX 3060 has 12.7 TFLOPS, Intel A770 will offer 19.7 TFLOPS). It supports max. DirectX 11 in the Feature Level 11_1 variant. The card passed the old 3DMark 03 and 3DMark 06 benchmarks, but it didn’t really shine. It has 27% less raw power than the A770, so it can be expected to have at least that much less practical power. But we can wait even less because of the controllers. They are not a privilege even with Intel, but the MTT S80 has them even worse. In these tests, the S80 achieved 35 to 61% lower performance than the Intel A770 with 16 GB of memory. The YouTuber tried the game, for example, in the game Crysis, but it started only in DirectX 9 mode. In a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels, it usually ran at a frequency of around 20-25 fps. The big disadvantage of the card is the huge consumption in idle mode. Even without a load, it consumes around 110 W.
