Disney has announced the sequels of the animated films ‘Toy Story’ and ‘Frozen’. Disney CEO Bob Iger made several movie announcements for fans. A sequel to the animated film ‘Zootopia’ has also been announced.
Iger announced two new sequels to huge franchises. It was revealed that both the films are in the works. The ‘Toy Story’ franchise has four theatrical chapters and a spin-off. Although the 2022 film ‘Lightyear’ was a flop, ‘Toy Story 3’ and ‘Toy Story 4’ were films that grossed more than $1 billion. And ‘Toy Story’ was also a film that won many awards.
The first ‘Frozen’ movie was a blockbuster hit when it was released in 2013, and the sequel ‘Frozen II’ grossed over $1.4 billion at the worldwide box office in 2019. ‘Frozen’ is Disney’s 53rd animated film.
Meanwhile, Disney plans to lay off 7,000 workers. Disney has approximately 190,000 employees. The mass media and entertainment conglomerate announced yesterday that it plans to restructure the company’s operations and cut jobs to cut costs. Reports have surfaced suggesting that Disney began a plan to cut costs and layoffs shortly after the company’s CEO Robert Iger took over from former CEO Bob Chapek last November.
