The winter transfer phase has only just ended when the coming change window is already casting its shadow. In this, sports director Sebastian Kehl wants to further strengthen his team. The focus should be on the defensive wingers in particular.
There have always been rumors that Borussia Dortmund would like to sign Ivan Fresneda from Real Valladolid. However, it has now become known that BVB is targeting a Bundesliga star for the right-back position.
Borussia Dortmund interested in Klostermann
As “Sport Bild” reports, BVB could try again with Lukas Klostermann in the summer. The defensive man is not yet getting the turn he wants at RB Leipzig this season and should therefore already be looking for a new club with his advisor.

According to the report, this could be BVB. The club from the Ruhr area is said to have been “recently” interested in the cup winner’s defensive man. Klostermann had the opportunity to move to Dortmund three years ago. At that time, the national player would have been the replacement for Achraf Hakimi if he had gone to the black and yellow. In the end, however, the defender extended the contract with Leipzig.
Borussia Dortmund wants to improve defense
In the summer of 2022, BVB signed two new central defenders, Nico Schlotterbeck and Niklas Süle, to stabilize the defence. For 2023 it is apparently Borussia’s plan to strengthen the full-back positions. With Julian Ryerson, the first was signed in January, with Ivan Fresneda and Ramy Bensebaini two more defensive specialists should be in Dortmund’s focus.

Raphael Guerreiro and Thomas Meunier are therefore unlikely to have a long-term future in Dortmund. While the Portuguese’s expiring contract will probably not be extended at the end of the season, Meunier, who has been flirting with leaving for a long time, has new competition in the squad in Ryerson.
