Assistant STY Confides About Fighting for Players Between Clubs and the U-20 National Team

Assistant Shin Tae Yong (STY) at Indonesian National team, Nova Arianto expressed his feelings through his Instagram account about the struggle for players between the U-20 national team and the club.

Currently, of the 30 names summoned, only 21 players attended the U-20 Indonesia National Team training camp (TC) in preparation for the U-20 Asian Cup and the 2023 U-20 World Cup.

The other nine players, namely four players from Persija, three from Persib, and two players who are currently abroad have not joined the TC.

In this regard, PSSI Chairman Mochamad Iriawan and Indonesian National Team coach Shin Tae Yong have begged the club to release players to the U-20 national team TC.

The U-20 Indonesian national team currently requires the presence of all players to strengthen tactics. Instead, the club still needs the player for the competition.

The assistant coach of the Indonesian national team, Nova Arianto, also gave an explanation regarding the problem of fighting over players between the U-20 national team and clubs through his Instagram account on Wednesday (8/2).

“We fully understand the needs of the club and head coach [Shin Tae Yong] also agreed that the players would be better off playing in competitions, we are also happy to have two of our players play outside [negeri] but it must also be understood that the national team is preparing for the U-20 national team which will play in 2 major events at the U-20 Asian Cup and the U-20 World Cup,” said Nova Arianto as quoted from his Instagram page.

“The head coach wants the players to join immediately because the coaching staff not only has to re-shape the basic physicality of the players but also prepares the team organization and game plans that are planned to be used in the two events. How can we practice tactically if some of the players cannot attend,” said Nova, adding .
