Arsenal’s decision to recruit Jorginho praised. The experience of the senior quarterback will be crucial for the effort The Gunners stay at the top of the standings.
Arsenal bought Jorginho from Chelsea in the January transfer market. The 31-year-old midfielder was redeemed at a cost of just £12 million because of the surplus in the Blues squad.
Jorginho’s signing has been hailed by Premier League all-time top scorer Alan Shearer. His experience will help Arsenal in their mission to win the Premier League this season.
“I really like the signing of Jorginho. He will bring rich experience and knowledge of how to win and cross the finish line,” Shearer told BBC.
“There will still be big questions and crucial moments to go through in the next few seasons. So who is a better name to sign than Jorginho, who has done it at various levels,” he added.
Jorginho has never won the Premier League, but he has experience winning the Europa League, Champions League, European Super Cup, to the Club World Cup with Chelsea. At Napoli, he won the Coppa Italia and the Italian Super Cup.
At the national team level, the Brazilian-born player won the European Cup with the Italian national team.
Arsenal currently lead the Premier League standings with 50 points from 20 matches, five points ahead of Manchester City who have played one game more. Arsenal have never won the Premier League again since the 2003/2004 season with Arsene Wenger.
