Haitham Al-Ghosn, Secretary-General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), indicated more optimistic economic expectations in the midst of the reopening of the Chinese economy after several years of restrictions to combat the Corona pandemic. According to Bloomberg News, Al-Ghosn told the Indian Energy Week forum that there is a wide potential for oil demand this year, as well as the possibility of volatility.
He pointed out that “Covid-19” is still a “beast” that imposes a range of “unknowns” for global markets.
He added that the ministers of the member states of the “OPEC Plus” alliance are only separated by a “phone call” if intervention is required, and a decision is taken regarding intervention in the volume of oil supply.
