Aircraft TransAsia had a fatal accident in Taiwan. The plane carrying 58 passengers crashed and landed on the Keelung River.
Reporting from Star Daily, flight TransAsia Airways with flight number 235 crashed due to engine failure. The flight, which used an ATR 72 aircraft, crashed into an overpass and split the taxi into two.
Of the 58 passengers, only 15 survived. Three crew members and one of two flight attendants died in the incident.
When the plane plunged into the Keelung River, the Taipei Fire Department, military and volunteer rescue workers arrived on the scene within minutes.
One survivor, Lin Mingwei, described how he and his wife were able to ‘cheat’ death. Lin said that they were sitting on the right side of the plane.
But he heard strange noises on the wings of the plane after takeoff and asked to move. They were eventually moved to the port side of the plane.
The goddess Fortuna accompanies Lin, her seat becoming a large chunk of the plane as it crashes into the water. Lin and his wife were able to get out of the plane before it sank.
Another survivor, Huang Jin-sun, 72, told reporters he was trying to help others who had come out of the rubble.
“I saw other people drowning. If I don’t move fast enough to help them, they will die soon,” he said.
A flight attendant in Huangjing is the only surviving flight attendant. TransAsia has also crashed before, last year. But Huangjing managed to survive because he changed shifts, even now he is the only cabin crew who survived.
The TransAsia plane crash was reported to have crashed shortly after departing from Shongshan Airport to Kinmen Airport, because one of its engines failed.
Unfortunately, there was a miscommunication between the pilot and the co-pilot, so they accidentally turned off the plane’s engine which was still alive.
Because of this, the plane lost power and plunged into the Keelung River.
