The curiosity. In Alta Val Seriana the snow carved by the wind.
After the strong wind on Saturday (at the Curò refuge it had marked a maximum speed of 105 kilometers per hour) many hikers returned to our mountains yesterday. Among the most popular itineraries in the upper Val Seriana, it is worth mentioning that of Monte Timogno (above Spiazzi di Gromo) or the Valle dell’Asta in Lizzola, through which you can reach many peaks that form the border with the Valle di Scalve and the nearby Sedornia Valley.
Snowshoeers, ski mountaineers or simple hikers with crampons on their feet have therefore reached the various refuges present in the Lizzola ski area.
The more accustomed have instead chosen different itineraries, such as Monte Sasna, Pizzo di Petto or Punta delle Oche. On these types of routes the snow has in fact undergone enormous transformation processes following the erosive action caused by the wind the day before, causing conspicuous accumulations in the leeward areas. «Beyond the line of the forest – Arpa Lombardia recommends – it will be necessary to pay attention to the slabs which may locally yield even with a low overload».
