Pathanamthitta: Clash in front of Pandalam Cooperative Bank. The conflict is between BJP and DYFI. The clash took place in the incident of taking away the gold from the bank. The clash was during the BJP’s protest demanding that a complaint be lodged with the police against the employee who changed the gold. Arjun Pramod, who is accused in the gold embezzlement case, is the son of former CPIM Pandalam Area Secretary Pramod.
The BJP’s stand was that they will not allow the bank to open without a decision. But meanwhile DYFI activists tried to open the bank. With this, the dispute resulted in a conflict. Later, the police arrived and arrested the activists and removed them. Congress workers are continuing their strike in the incident.
The protestors alleged that the governing body tried to settle the case despite knowing that the employee had taken gold as a pawn from the bank and that the governing body did not approach the police despite the fact that there was an unchargeable incident including theft.
‘Arjun joined the Cooperative Bank on the recommendation of the CPI(M). It is this closeness to the party that saves Arjun from legal action despite his crime. He exchanged 70 Pawan gold. “The CPIM-controlled governing body or the secretary of the bank concealed this without informing the police,” the protesters alleged.
Police cannot take action without receiving a complaint from the bank. It is also alleged that some CPIM leaders in Pandalam are involved in efforts to settle the case by returning the gold taken.
