Do you really think a tweet would hold up in court if it turned out that way? What you read on twitter is a statement of intent. Nothing less and above all nothing more! The fact that companies and governments use it does not mean that twitter is anything more than a communication platform.
The terms and conditions that you have agreed to as a subscription holder do count as a legal document and can be used in legal proceedings against you as a person/customer.
It is my impression that this does not penetrate the minds of many. What Netflix or any other company/government/political party/person babbles on twitter means literally nothing.
Here’s one link to the definition of “showing in a domestic circle” as referred to in Dutch copyright law.
Very briefly: Only show in the house where you legally reside with a limited number of people who have family ties with you or who you consider close friends. And there should be no costs involved.
Even your wedding, which you would celebrate in your own home with 10 family members, no longer falls under the domestic circle and you therefore already need permission from rights holders.
So it doesn’t matter what you think the term “domestic circle” means. You should have looked up the real meaning. And you can complain that your family / group of friends is larger than 10 people. Then you divide that list of people into groups of 8 people plus yourself to view the content of rights holders in your home. It does not state how often something may be shown in a domestic circle. That is the only loop hole you have at your disposal.
So no, it never did. And may not in the future either. Unwillingness to inform yourself properly about definitions, that will be severely punished in a lawsuit that has been brought against you.
Why do I keep bringing up “lawsuit”? They have an absolute way of ruining your life in ways that can affect you for the rest of your life. Now I know better, but hope this creates an awareness about the gravitas of a post on twitter. Doesn’t only apply to twitter, other social media doesn’t have gravitas either.
