A great discovery
In the workshop, Danièle made a huge discovery: the fart bag! Roxane said that when she was young and going through difficult times at home with her parents, she took refuge with her grandmother. She had filled a drawer with toys and sweets that Roxane could rummage through to take her mind off things. We have reproduced this famous drawer and put a fart bag in it. Danièle had never seen that in her life! Benoît invited her to sit on it. When she understood what it was for, she started laughing like a child! The next day, at lunch, she took revenge by putting the fart bag on Roxane’s chair.
In floral mode
The childhood photos of the guests are often very funny, because we discover impossible looks there! Roxane’s were amazing! Seeing her photos of a young girl where she was dressed in flowered dresses, she told us: “It was obviously before I understood who I am!”, since from a young age, she wanted to be dressed like a guy.

Postponed
I had invited Roxane to come to the chalet last year, but after weeks of discussions, we had agreed that it was not a good idea. The idea of being in a foreign place, with people she didn’t know, in order to come back to her story was for her an exercise that aroused too much anxiety. This year, I felt like I was facing a more mature Roxane. She cracked up when we brought up her childhood memories, but the other guests took care of her and gave her love. In the end, she told herself well. People will find out where she went and better understand her work, as well as the artist she has become.
A matter of honor
I had the impression that everyone knew Danièle’s childhood, since she told about it in her books, in conferences and in interviews. When I saw the reaction of the team and the other guests, I understood that many did not know her! She had a childhood worthy of a movie script, filled with twists and turns… Her mother had an extremely difficult life: she was tortured and could never have gotten out of it, because she was accused of the murder of his partner. Through this story, we understand why Danièle shows so much confidence and resilience. She wanted to avenge her mother by becoming the successful businesswoman she is today.

A unique memory
Few people can boast of having eaten Fudgee-O with René Lévesque, but this is the case of Benoît! His father worked for the Sûreté du Québec and was a bodyguard, among others for political figures, including René Lévesque. The former Prime Minister went to Benoît’s a few times and, while his father showered and changed, René ate Fudgee-O with Benoît. It’s still a special childhood memory!
The fear of missing something
Roxane arrived with a bag of groceries that contained bananas and pears. When I went to meet her, I asked her why she had brought these foods. She confided to me that she is always afraid of missing something. As a teenager, she didn’t really have a fixed home; she was walking from house to house because she was not well with her parents, then she ended up living in a filthy one and a half. This little bag was deeply representative of his fear…

Present time
As a child, Benoît had a deep interest in thrills and an ability to live in the present moment. He made us laugh when he said that in high school, as soon as he saw the snow falling, he went skiing! It represents his personality very well… Throughout his journey, we see this same need to be connected to the present moment. He always seems to ask himself, “What do I need now?” He doesn’t make a long-term plan, doesn’t think about the path he wants to take… This temperament really goes back to his childhood.

A little oversight
The night before filming, I always text my guests, welcoming them to the chalet and reassuring them if they have any concerns. When writing to Benoît, I saw a conversation that dated back to 2015, in which it was about a certain Danièle… That’s when I realized that at the time when I was producing The dancing gods, I paired Benoît and Danièle to form a duo. I didn’t remember that at all! However, we always do 1001 checks to make sure that our guests don’t know each other very well… Fortunately for us, Benoît and Danièle had danced together, but they hadn’t told each other in detail. . The weekend therefore allowed them to get to know each other in greater depth.
A beautiful bond
The complicity of these three during dinner was beautiful to see. I think that in the whole history of true nature, it was the first time that a guest got up to hug another guest. This was the case of Danièle with regard to Benoît, who was under the influence of emotion when talking about his relationship with his father. Her mourning is not quite settled… The dinner ended when we agreed to meet at the Bell Center to go and encourage Roxane, who will be performing there this spring.
The best player
During the weekend, we saw how funny Danièle is. We are used to seeing her posed and thoughtful. I was surprised by his kind of madness and joie de vivre. She laughs, she likes to have fun… It was very nice to see her like this! In the evening, we did a mime activity. We had a trunk full of accessories of all kinds and we had to make the others guess the names of personalities. Against all odds, Danièle turned out to be the best player. She was amazing, it seems like she knows everyone! The next day, the two losers had to go get eggs from the chicken coop…
