Jakarta –
Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) has a large and sophisticated capacity to hold concerts. However, it has big homework regarding access and transportation.
This fact occurred when JIS became the venue for Dewa 19’s concert entitled 30 Years of Work People’s Party. As many as 75 thousand baladewa packed JIS on Saturday (4/2/2023) night.
Baladewa, who watched live at JIS, was traumatized. Spectators with the account @adriansyahyasin are one of those who criticize access to and from JIS.
“Holding a big event at JIS is a big disaster. 75,000 spectators dispersed from the stadium without access to mass public transportation, without proper parking, without even access to proper sidewalks,” he wrote.
“Leaving the stadium was immediately greeted by a road with no sidewalks, no clear access to the shuttle bus. What’s the point of a good stadium but no supporting infrastructure at all,” he added.
The difficulty of access and transportation when the concert was held at JIS which is located in Papanggo Village, Tanjung Priok District, North Jakarta, opposite Ancol, was predicted long ago.
The large and magnificent building with a capacity of 82,000 people is dominated by white and striking so that a traveler will easily see it from the side of the road but it’s not that easy to reach it.
JIS built on the concept green building or environmentally friendly, it turns out to be unfriendly to the audience. The stadium only has 1,200 parking spaces for private vehicles, which forces most spectators to come to JIS by public transportation.
It’s just that until today, there are only two public transportation options that can be used to reach JIS. First, use the KRL. Then, the second option is to take Transjakarta.
For concert connoisseurs, this public transportation has not been able to accommodate the high interest of the audience on the D day. Some music fans are detikTravel interview in October 2022, harboring fears of occurrence chaos if transportation facilities are still minimal.
“JIS is in Tanjung Priok, isn’t it. Wow, it’s far because it’s not in the middle of Jakarta. It’s like ICE BSD, access is difficult. Trains are far away, there’s no public transportation. When you go home from a concert, the traffic of motorcycle taxis/online taxis is all errors,” said Meliana .
In line with Meliana, Nadia also revealed that the process of breaking up the concert was a crucial moment. Usually there is severe congestion, especially if access to transportation is minimal.
“TransJakarta should be available 24 hours. Moreover, leaving the concert takes a long time, yes, 1 hour is not enough,” he said.
Imah also expressed the hope that TransJakarta would operate longer. This is considering that currently only TransJakarta can directly transport JIS users out of there.
“For access to JIS, if there is an event, please provide mass transportation properly and sufficiently. For example, TransJakarta is multiplied when there are certain events and serves 24 hours,” he suggested.
Meanwhile, another concert connoisseur named Desta also hopes that JIS will be bypassed by other modes of public transportation, including the MRT and LRT. This is especially useful for breaking down density.
“At least if there is an MRT, LRT, busway, or public transportation with really easy access to get there, people don’t have to take private vehicles. So there will be less congestion,” he said.
