Havana, Feb 5 (Prensa Latina) After several days of screenings, the film exhibition dedicated to commemorating the more than six decades of diplomatic relations between Cuba and China closes today in this capital.
The thematic cycle organized by the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (Icaic) and the embassy of the friendly country, opened its calendar in the Charles Chaplin room with the documentary The Longest Journey, by Cuban director Rigoberto López.
The program of the initiative also included the action comedy Catch a Thief, starring the famous actor Jackie Chan, as well as the titles My war (Wo De Zhan Zheng, 2016), Brave (Lie Huo Ying Xiong, 2019) and Tik Tok (Li Jun, 2016), which will mark the closing of the presentations.
As highlighted by the ambassador of the People’s Republic of China on the island, Ma Hui, this proposal endorses the power of cinema as a platform for cultural exchange and reaffirms the importance of promoting greater spaces for cultural exchange between both territories.
From room one of the Multicine Infanta, the cycle brought the public of the largest of the Antilles closer to a diversity of audiovisuals, which illustrate the different styles and techniques implemented in contemporary Chinese filmography, as well as the themes that motivate the filmmakers. Conceived as part of the activities for the 175th anniversary of the Chinese presence in Cuba, the exhibition is part of the festivities agenda of the Spring Festival of the Chinese Lunar New Year 2023, which since the beginning of January promotes the culture of that country .
As part of the commemoration, the Spring Welcome culinary contest will also be held on the 8th, and the opening of the Spring Rabbit exhibition, by the plastic artist Alexis Carbonell, on the 10th.
The Spring Festival is held in China on the occasion of the farewell to the Old Lunar Year and the advent of the new one, through a 30-day festival, which covers 15 days before the end of the year, and up to 15 days after the beginning of the year. next.
