This Wednesday 1is February, the Émile-Durkheim hospital in Épinal officially saw the birth of a brand new place of worship, common to the three monotheistic religions: Judaism, Islam and Christianity. A construction sign of “the peaceful relationship of brotherhood that unites us”, rejoices Father Pierre-Jean Duménial, moderator priest of Épinal.
The objective is to offer patients who so wish, a place to recharge their batteries, in accordance with their religious convictions. “Beyond medicine, some patients expect more comfort. May this place provide them with the answers they are looking for,” says the hospital’s deputy director, Jean-Roch Letellier.
The room is therefore composed of the different necessities they may need: siddur for the Jews, orientation of Mecca indicated for the Muslims and cross and word identified for the Christians. But also the contacts of the chaplains. The project, meanwhile, was fully funded by the various religions. It is now permanently open to all patients who express the need.
