Hanoi (VNA) – The presidential office on Feb. 3 announced Vietnam Acting President Vo Thi Anh Xuan’s order to enact the Medical Examination and Treatment Law that was passed during the second extraordinary session of the National Assembly of the 15th legislature.
The Medical Examination and Treatment Act (Revised) aims to remove obstacles and solve emerging problems in medical examination and treatment activities with the aim of developing and improving the quality of medical services towards the equity, high efficiency, development and international integration, while strengthening state management of these activities.
The law includes 12 chapters and 121 articles, with many new contents, in particular those on the improvement of the professional quality of the medical practitioners and the quality of service of the medical establishments, the increase of the access of the people to the care services of health, and the renovation of the regulations relating to conditions to ensure the implementation of medical examination and treatment activities.
In particular, in order to increase people’s access to medical examination and treatment services, the law changes the system of organization of medical examination and treatment establishments from four professional levels to three previously.
Under the law, private clinics located in areas with extremely difficult socio-economic conditions are authorized to set up hospital beds for the monitoring and treatment of patients for a maximum of 72 hours.
At the same time, telemedicine activities will be promoted in the hope of achieving universal health coverage by improving patients’ access to quality and cost-effective health services anytime and anywhere, especially for less serious diseases. and chronic conditions that require long-term and regular care. -VNA
