TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Main Director of Perum Bulog Budi Waseso alias Buwas say free rice mafia arrested if the main problem is not resolved.
“Well, the problem is yesterday I conveyed that this mafia is not under the jurisdiction (Bulog). Someone is responsible for the settlement,” said Buwas in a press conference at the Bulog Office, Jakarta, Thursday, February 2, 2023.

Buwas asked the rice mafia to be handled persuasively
As for the issue of criminal penalties for the rice mafia, Buwas said the prosecution could be carried out persuasively. That way, the parties involved do not repeat their actions.
“The purpose of punishment or enforcement is that it’s useless to be detained or arrested, but the problem hasn’t been solved, it might even develop,” continued Buwas.
When asked about the performance of the Food Task Force in managing the rice mafia, Buwas believes they have worked hard. He has also provided data related to the rice mafia to the Food Task Force.
“He (the Food Task Force) also went into the field to supervise, including supervising the rice market operations that we sent to markets and retail,” he said.
