All children over the age of 11 are vaccinated against HPV

Until now, girls have been vaccinated with the bivalent HPV vaccine, and from February 1. the nine-valent HPV vaccine is included and the vaccination of boys begins (11-year-olds will be vaccinated).

Given that the vaccination of boys starts in 2023. on February 1, those boys who have reached the age of 11 but not yet 12 on the date of the order’s entry into force, i.e. born in 2011, are vaccinated. February 2 and later. The vaccination schedule consists of two doses of the HPV vaccine, with a period of at least 6 months between the first and second doses of the HPV vaccine.

For those girls who started vaccination with bivalent HPV vaccine, it is recommended to complete the vaccination schedule with the same (bivalent) vaccine. Unvaccinated girls are started with the nine-valent HPV vaccine.

Vaccination of pregnant women against whooping cough

The incidence of whooping cough in pregnant women does not differ from the prevalence of this disease in adult women. From now on, pregnant women will be able to get a vaccine with a pertussis component free of charge. Vaccinations are performed according to the recommendations of the Lithuanian Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, which can be found here.

Regarding vaccination and related issues during pregnancy and breastfeeding, it is recommended to consult a family doctor or a doctor supervising the pregnancy.

More people can get vaccinated against pneumococcal infection

We remind you that from January 11 the list of persons who can be vaccinated against pneumococcal infection for free has been supplemented. All persons belonging to the risk group who suffer from bronchial asthma or diabetes can be vaccinated without restrictions.

Free vaccination against pneumococcal infection is offered to both children and adults who are included in the lists of risk groups, which you can find here.
