Al-Marsad Newspaper: A new study published in The Journal of Nuclear Medicine found that e-cigarette users suffer from more pneumonia than cigarette smokers and non-smokers.
The study showed that vaporizing e-liquids with e-cigarettes creates a unique inflammatory response in the lungs that differs from smoking regular cigarettes.
Researchers from the University of Pennsylvania said that electronic cigarettes can cause pneumonia and increase the risk of lung disease, while other researchers saw that electronic cigarettes cause heart and lung damage on a par with traditional cigarettes.
The results showed significantly more inflammation in the lungs of e-cigarette users than smokers or non-smokers, according to the Daily Mail.
“We found evidence that e-cigarette use causes a unique inflammatory response in the lungs,” the researchers stated in the study.
