Topman Gerber unexpectedly exchanges Brussels Airlines for a competitor

Peter Gerber will step down as CEO of Brussels Airlines with immediate effect. He switches to competitor Condor. His predecessor Christina Foerster takes over ad interim at Brussels Airlines.

The German Gerber was less than two years (since March 2021) at the head of Brussels Airlines, which is part of the German Lufthansa group. Gerber also leaves the group.

He will start on February 1, 2024 as CEO of the German airline Condor, the latter announced.

Christina Foerster will temporarily take over the management of Brussels Airlines. The German was already CEO of the airline from 2018 to 2020, and is a member of the Lufthansa board of directors. A long-term successor to Peter Gerber will be announced as soon as possible.

In recent years, Brussels Airlines has regularly changed CEO. Five years ago, early 2018, Bernard Gustin was still leading the company. In April of that year, Foerster became CEO, she was then succeeded by Dieter Vranckx at the beginning of 2021. The Belgian in turn made way for Gerber just over a year later. Vranckx is now CEO of Swiss, another company of the Lufthansa group.
