“The revision of the school map for 2023 and the announcement of class or school closures arouse the concern and incomprehension of many local elected officials and parents of students.
The President of the Republic had undertaken not to close any class or school in rural areas without the agreement of the mayor. The fine knowledge of the territory belongs indeed to our local elected officials who do not spare their commitment on a daily basis.
They are constantly concerned, through the projects they carry out, to enhance the attractiveness of their territory, to maintain or develop services there and to attract new inhabitants.
The sudden decision to close a class is therefore fraught with consequences, both human and financial. It breathes a headwind into the local energies that are deployed to improve life in our rurality.
Also, with the teaching and accompanying staff, agents and contractual staff, the mayors and their teams do everything possible to provide quality education and promote equal opportunities.
Laurent Bordelon wrote: “A good education is the greatest good you can leave to your children” (La Belle éducation – 1694). So, let’s act collectively so that the education of our children is the best possible, in optimal conditions for all the actors concerned, and always in connection with our elected officials. »
