A van and a car have collided on Saltnesveien in Råde. The police were notified of the accident at 4:00 p.m.
Three people were involved in the accident. They were all taken to hospital.
A woman and a man in their 20s were in the car. The man was sitting in the passenger seat when the collision occurred.
He was transported to Ullevål hospital by air ambulance, and is described as critically injured, police operations manager Trond Lorentzen told NRK.
Meeting accident
The drivers of both cars were transported by ambulance to Kalnes Hospital with an unknown degree of injury.
– It looks like a head-on accident, but the cars are quite far apart now, Lorentzen said shortly after the accident.
A man in his 40s was driving the van. He was questioned by the police on Tuesday evening.
– Our theory has been that there has been some form of hit-and-run accident, and his explanation at least confirms that, says the operations manager.
Accident team notified
One person was trapped when the emergency services arrived at the scene. The fire service quickly set about freeing this person, according to duty manager at the 110 center Nicklas Nordqvist.
The Swedish Road Administration’s accident group has been notified of the accident. Forensic technicians from the police are also on their way to the scene.
– The road here will be closed for several hours, says accident site manager Knut Arne Berger.
The recommended detour is via Tesalaveien and Tombveien.
– The detour will be re-signposted until the necessary investigations have been completed, says operations manager Lorentzen.
