This week’s hottest news for fans of rock music: on July 26, one of the most famous representatives of the thrash metal “Big Four” or “Big Four” – the group “Megadeth” – will perform on the stage of the Tallinn Song Festival. This will be the only concert of the legendary Dave Mustaine’s Blitz in the Baltic States.
The odious Dave Mustaine group “Megadeth” will visit the Baltic region for the third time, and all these times the lucky lot has fallen to Estonians: in July 2010, the Americans performed heavy music in honor of the 20th anniversary of their legendary album “Rust In Peace” in such a funny place as the territory of Häapsalu Palace, while in 2012 In June of 2010, he played in Tallinn’s “Rock Cafe”, promoting his then still very fresh album “Thirteen”. Also this time, “Megadeth” will feature new sound material – the album “The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!” released last September. Tickets for the concert planned at the Tallinn Song Festival stage will be on sale from Friday, February 3, in the entire “Biļešu serviss” network.
The American thrash metal band Megadeth was formed in 1983 by guitarist, songwriter and vocalist Dave Mustaine, who was fired from Metallica at the time, and apparently formed his project as a “better, heavier and more powerful” counter to his former colleagues – at least unofficially, I must say. this race is not over yet.
Moreover, at least in part, Mustaine has even won this competition, because in terms of skill, speed of guitar playing and heaviness of sound, he has surpassed Metallica (commercial indicators are another story…) – technical complexity and speed of playing are Megadeth’s calling card, and for many in the genre for fans, the real thrash metal is exactly “Megadeth”. It’s not for nothing that the band also has a loyal army of fans (including the author of these lines), which numbers in the millions and unites several generations – no matter where you are in the world, you will definitely meet someone in a “Megadeth” shirt or hoodie at any heavy music event.
During Megadeth’s 40-year career, 16 studio albums have been released, six of which have received platinum status in the US alone, and whose total circulation has exceeded 40 million. The group has received critical acclaim and numerous awards, and the most prestigious of them relatively recently – for the album “Dystopia” (2016). Currently, “Megadeth” along with “Metallica”, “Slayer” and “Anthrax” are counted among the most important creators and developers of the three-metal genre, and it is this quartet that makes up the aforementioned “Big Four”.
“Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying?” is crowned as the best Megadeth album. (1986), ‘So Far, So Good… So What!’ “Risk” released in 1999) can be counted among the golden fund of rock music. Billboard critics make their Top 15 Megadeth songs: “Peace Sells, Holy Wars… The Punishment Due,” “Wake Up Dead,” “Hangar 18,” “In My Darkest Hour,” “Hook in Mouth,” “Symphony Of Destruction”, “Sweating Bullets”, “Trust”, “Good Morning / Black Friday”, “My Last Words”, “Mechanix”, “A Tout le Monde”, “Five Magics”, “The Conjuring” and “Angry Again”. The top isn’t bad, but the brooding redhead Mustaine has a string of other very good songs. Also in the new album.
