FC Groningen has attracted Elvis Manu. The attacker is rented from the Bulgarian Botev Plovdiv for the rest of this season. The 29-year-old Manu previously played in the Eredivisie for Feyenoord, SC Cambuur and Go Ahead Eagles.

Elvis Manu was born on August 13, 1993 in Dordrecht. The attacker went through the youth academy of Feyenoord and made his debut for the club from Rotterdam South in the 2011/2012 season. The following season, Manu was loaned out to city rivals Excelsior. After a rental period in Leeuwarden at SC Cambuur, Manu made his breakthrough in De Kuip in the 2014/2015 season.

It resulted in a transfer to Brighton & Hove Albion FC and he also played for Huddersfield Town FC in England. After a return to the Eredivisie with Go Ahead Eagles in the 2016/2017 season, two successful years in Turkey and an adventure in China, Manu was picked up by the Bulgarian top club Ludogorets in 2020. In the previous winter transfer window, Manu moved to Polish Wisla Krakau.

The attacker played the first half of this year for Bulgarian Botev Plovdiv, where he scored seven goals in 14 league matches and provided four assists.

Technical director Mark-Jan Fledderus explains why Manu is added to the selection of FC Groningen. “Elvis is a player who has already experienced a lot in his career and he had the desire to show the Netherlands what he has to offer. We think that Elvis can bring us speed, power, but also a certain unpredictability. In addition, he is a player who has actually scored his goals everywhere under all circumstances. We therefore think that Elvis can be of immediate value to help us in our relegation battle. We wish him every success.”
