the nursing staff of a hospital in the Cher are aging to denounce the reform

A hundred employees of the Vierzon hospital point out the difficulty of their daily work and the physical consequences that result from it.

An original way to fight against the pension reform. Firmly opposed to the extension of working hours, the inter-union of the hospital center of Vierzon, in the department of Cher, decided to hang the aged portraits of a hundred of its employees on the grids of the establishment.

The objective is clear, to show what the nursing staff will look like when they retire, if the reform defended by the government comes into force.

“Hospital of the future, when the pension reform shows its true face”, can we read on a banner which accompanies the pictures.

“The idea was to see yourself from the age of 64 and over, since for some it will be necessary to go beyond to have a full retirement”, insists, with France BleuPierre Brunet, representative of the central trade union, who indicates that he used “an application that is aging” to transform his colleagues.

General fatigue

The effect is striking. With bleached hair, dark circles, deepened wrinkles, many employees have a hard time recognizing themselves. “When my wife saw the photo, I can tell you she was scared,” joked BFMTV Dominique, a seven-year-old caregiver.

Behind the joke, this aging of the nursing staff also reminds us of the harshness of these professions and the suffering from which some employees are already suffering.

“Pains everywhere, shoulders, arms, legs, standing up which is regular. All day, it’s complicated”, tells us Maria.

Aged 15 years, Maryvonne launches a more global reflection on her profession. “It doesn’t make you want to take care of patients, and I think it doesn’t make patients want to be taken care of by Maryvonne at that age especially,” she said, staring at her doctored portrait.

At the microphone of France Bleu, Pierre Brunet adds that these professions being “very feminized”, women will be all the more affected by this reform, evoking pregnancies and more choppy careers. “This means that to validate all the annuities, it will be necessary to do more years”, warns the representative.

“It’s not encouraging”

On the side of the patients, the operation is also a hit. A young man confides to BFMTV his fears about the employment of increasingly older people in health professions.

“Personally, it scares me to be treated by a person who may no longer be competent, who will no longer have his head, or who will tremble, it’s not encouraging,” he said.

For another patient, the question of retirement age is central. “Those who want to work, I agree, but those who want to retire and who can’t, I find that very unfortunate,” she says.

These portraits should remain hung on the grids of the hospital establishment all the time of the social mobilization, while a new demonstration is planned for Tuesday in Vierzon. To amplify the impact of the initiative, nursing staff are invited to distribute the portraits on social networks and in the various departments of the hospital.
