West Jakarta Sudinkes shares tips to avoid TB with sufficient lighting

a clean environment and the food consumed is also a determining factor

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The West Jakarta Health Sub-agency (Jakbar Sudinkes) shared tips on how to avoid tuberculosis (TB) by getting natural lighting and sufficient air circulation when indoors.

“Circulation and light are very influential. Because the TB virus will die if exposed to the sun, while air circulation is to nourish the lungs,” said Head of West Jakarta Health Sub-Department Erizon Safarii in Jakarta, Tuesday.

In addition, a clean environment and the food consumed are also determining factors so as not to contract TB.

Thus, these factors greatly determine the condition of the body’s resistance so that it is not infested with the TB virus.

If our immune system is good, then the TB healing process will be fast.

“If our immune system is good, we can have TB but no clinical symptoms will appear. But it still has to be treated,” he explained.

For residents who feel they have a history of meeting TB patients, it is also recommended to check their health conditions at the nearest sub-district and sub-district health centers.

Later, they will carry out an x-ray examination of the lungs to confirm the presence of the TB virus in the body.

If you are positively exposed to TB, then his party will provide six months of treatment and care for all patients.

“TBC is a minimum of 6 months of treatment and he has to take routine medicine from the Puskesmas so he is still under surveillance,” said Erizon.

He hopes that with this lifestyle, residents can avoid tuberculosis and the spread of the virus can be suppressed to the maximum.

For your information, the West Jakarta Health Sub-agency has carried out mobile TB checks in every sub-district in the West Jakarta area since early January 2023.

Until the end of January, there were 4,735 residents who had been tested for tuberculosis. Of these, only a small proportion of residents tested positive for tuberculosis.

“The exact number must be re-examined because the examination was only completed last week,” explained Erizon.
