Chelsea are so eager to sign Enzo Fernandez. The clause of 120 million Euros requested by Benfica is reportedly ready to be fulfilled, but in 6 installments.
This was revealed by Sky Sports journalist, Kaveh Solhekol, when reviewing Chelsea’s transfer activities. The Blues are currently flying to Portugal to try to bring Fernandez.
Benfica insists that they only want to release Fernandez according to his clause, which is 120 million Euros or around Rp. 2.2 trillion. Chelsea is ready to fulfill it, as long as it is on condition.
According to Solhekol, Chelsea asked to pay him in six installments. Chelsea tried to bid on this, in order to avoid Financial Fair Play rules.
Because, Chelsea has poured out a lot of funds to bring in players this season. In the January transfer market alone, the London Blue squad brought in 7 new players and spent £190 million.
“Chelsea, who have new owners from the United States, clearly want to bring in the best young players in the world. They are doing everything possible to bring in Enzo Fernandez, who has a release clause of 120 million Euros or 105 million pounds. Chelsea is ready to pay the clause,” he said.
“Now, I don’t think it will be paid in one lump sum, because it is complicated with Financial Fair Play. And what Chelsea said to Benfica is they will pay him six times, the first one will be a large amount and the rest will be paid five times. Chelsea believe they have done whatever at Benfica’s request,” he said.
Previously, several Chelsea offers for Enzo Fernandez had been rejected by Benfica on the grounds that the price clause was non-negotiable. Now, how is Benfica’s attitude after Chelsea dared to pay it, even if it’s in installments?
