On Monday evening, the Norwegian Meteorological Institute sent out over 20 danger warnings about gales in several parts of the country.
On Twitter The institute writes that from Tuesday cold air will come in from the north, which will cause it to be cold in the days ahead.
Getting colder
Meteorologist on duty Martin Granerød tells Dagbladet that the start of the week seems to be characterized by low pressure in large parts of the country. For Eastern Norway and Southern Norway, they can expect a little snowfall on Tuesday.
– But it’s not much. In coastal areas there will be sleet or rain. But there will not be much precipitation. Places that get snow get a sprinkle, says Granerød to Dagbladet.
Speaks out: – Very unhappy
Later in the week, Eastern Norway and Southern Norway will be characterized by cool mornings and nights with lighter clouds. Then it will be minus degrees. But during the day you can expect some plus degrees, says Granerød.
– On Thursday it will be colder, but less cloudy. It can be sunny for large parts of the day, and a couple of minus degrees in the middle of the day.
In Western Norway, the week will start with low pressure.
– Longer periods of rain and showers can be expected on Tuesday and Wednesday. There will occasionally be quite intense showers, and there may be scattered thunder. The temperature in coastal areas will be four to five plus degrees.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, westerners can expect windy days.
– On Tuesday and Wednesday there is a possibility of stiff to strong gales in coastal areas in Western Norway.
However, calmer wind conditions are expected on Thursday, and it may be cloudy to partly cloudy. At the weekend, Granerød says that there is likely to be more rain in Western Norway, and milder temperatures.
Avalanche warning
For Central Norway, the week starts with the possibility of scattered showers on Tuesday in the form of sleet or snow, and with rain on the coast. On Wednesday, it could be minus degrees, and with relatively calm wind conditions, says Granerød.
– Never seen anything like it
In Northern Norway, there may be scattered snow showers on Tuesday. On Wednesday, northerners can also expect minus temperatures.
– On Wednesday, there will probably be longer periods of sunshine in places, but good with minus temperatures. It can be minus five to minus ten at its coldest.
The meteorologists also warn of a great danger of avalanches in several places, including in Helgeland, Sunnmøre, Voss and Hardanger.
– Orange levels are out in the westernmost mountain areas in southern Norway, in addition to Helgeland. The rest of Northern Norway is on yellow.
The meteorologist also makes a call.
– That means you have to be careful in the mountain areas, and with the wind, it’s not the time to set out on a long trip, says Granerød.
