For a week, fires have been increasing in Haute-Loire. The weekend was hectic and it continues this Monday morning.
Major fires in homes and agricultural buildings have marked the activity of firefighters for a week. This weekend, an agricultural tunnel burned down, trapping 120 goats in Saint-Pierre-Eynac. This adds to an already full list: a house destroyed in Rosières, another in Saint-Germain-Laprade, a fire barely contained in Queyrières.
Sunday morning at Cheerful, tenants of a building came out while waiting for help to arrive around 6 a.m. In rue Notre-Dame de l’Oratoire, a wood-oil boiler fire mobilized 25 firefighters. A malfunction in the boiler led to backflow of fumes into the building.
A Ceaux-d’Allegre, Sunday evening, a farmer had time to get his tractor out of an agricultural building before it was totally ablaze, at a place called “Maméas Haut”. The fire started at the bottom of the 300 m2 barn which contained fodder and a tank of fuel oil.
This Monday, at 3:45 a.m., a fire broke out in rue Nationale in Saint-Didier-en-Velay. The occupant was alerted by a burning smell. The fire had started at the level of the roof, near the pipe of the pellet stove. With his sons, he tried to control the progression of the fire which destroyed 10 m2 of roofing. The large scale intervened as well as the thermal camera to check for hot spots. The damaged part was covered.
And this Monday, it’s a garage fire that mobilizes the firefighters in Brioude, alley of the Tuileries, since 10 hours. The 14 firefighters were able to preserve the residential part. Three relocations had to be taken care of by the town hall.
