Emirates News Agency – “Dubai International Basketball” exceeds the 100-point barrier

DUBAI, January 30, 2020 / WAM / Tomorrow, Tuesday, 3 matches will be held within the Dubai International Basketball Championship, which is currently being held at Rashid bin Hamdan Hall in Al Nasr Club, with the participation of 9 teams.
The competitions of the fifth day of the tournament will start with a match between the Lebanese Beirut teams and the Moroccan club Sala at five in the evening in the second group competitions, followed by the seventh match between the UAE national team and the Libyan Al-Nasr in the first group, and the matches of this round will end with the Lebanese athlete’s meeting with the Tunisian African at nine in the evening in the second group.
The third day’s matches, which were held on Sunday evening, witnessed, for the first time, the 100-point barrier, through the victory of the Lebanese team Dynamo over the UAE national team, with a score (103-68).
The Lebanese sports team, the holder of the championship title, succeeded in achieving its first victory in its first appearance in this edition, and defeated the Moroccan team Sale 81-78, so that this is the second consecutive loss for the Moroccan team.
It is noteworthy that the Lebanese sports team – the defending champion – who won 7 previous titles in the championship, is seeking to crown its eighth title in the current version, and includes among its ranks a group of distinguished young and experienced players, including the oldest player in the tournament, Ismail Ahmed (46 years).
In the third match, the African-Tunisian achieved its second successive victory, and defeated the Lebanese team, Beirut, in its first match, 74-61.
Sultan Saqr Al-Suwaidi, former Secretary-General of the Public Authority for Youth and Sports, praised the efforts made by the Emirates Basketball Association, headed by Major General / M / Ismail Al-Gergawi, which contributed to the continuation of the Dubai International Championship for more than three decades and its arrival to the 32nd edition.
He said: “The Dubai International Basketball Championship has maintained its continuity despite all the circumstances and challenges, and over these years, which have exceeded 30 years, there are many tournaments that have stumbled and did not have sustainability factors for various reasons, and these data confirm that the Emirates Basketball Federation has the constant insistence To achieve success, and the good selection of teams participating in each edition contributed to the continuation of excellence throughout this period.
