Sex recession in Japan has reached a very severe stage. The state stepped in and formed a special agency to deal with the problem.
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida stressed that his country’s problems of low birth rates and an aging population must be addressed immediately. To that end, the Japanese government will form a special agency.
According to Kishida, many developed countries are also experiencing the same problem. However, the problems faced by Japan are clearly acute, considering that the World Bank records that the proportion of people aged 65 and over is the second highest in the world, after Monaco.
“The number of births is expected to fall below 800,000 last year,” Kishida told lawmakers in a policy speech marking the start of a new parliamentary session.
Kishida emphasized that policies regarding children and childcare were issues that could not be postponed. Therefore, the government will launch the Child and Family Agency in April 2023.
The agency is designed to support older people and ensure “sustainability” in the world’s third-largest economy.
Kishida added that the government wants to double spending on child-related programs.
“We have to build a child-first social economy to reverse the (low) birth rate,” he said.
Currently, Japan has a population of 125 million. Sakura Country has long struggled to overcome sex recession and looking for ways to meet the needs of its rapidly growing aging population.
Birth rates are slowing in a number of countries due to several factors, including rising costs of living, more women entering the workforce and some people choosing to delay having children.
