“The Empire of Bling: New York” actor Blake Abbie doesn’t consider himself a sex symbol and has struggled to find love.
Revealed in the series “The Empire of Bling: New York”, on Netflix, Blake Abbie turns all heads. However, the 32-year-old actor does not see himself as a sex symbol. “To be honest, I don’t think I’m that sexy,” he told Page Six. Currently single, the Asian-Canadian identifies as queer (editor’s note: someone whose sexual orientation or gender identity does not fit the heteronormative social model.) And he has trouble finding love. “It’s hard for me to find people I can have a strong connection with and that’s really important to me. I need an emotional and intellectual connection,” he explains.
Abbie also explained that as one of the few Asian queer people on screen, he often “feels more pressure” to properly represent that community. “I live my life as I see fit and I don’t necessarily consider myself a true activist, he said. But I find it important to talk about people like me and to share a story about homosexuality where there is no shame.
