offshore wind development projects in New York

(CercleFinance.com) – GE announced yesterday that it had submitted plans for the construction of two new factories in New York, sites which could be built if GE won a sufficient number of offshore wind orders in this State.

GE proposed to build the factories with Carver Companies on the port of Coeymans. These state-of-the-art plants would be designed to make New York a clean energy hub.

LM Wind Power, a subsidiary of GE, would thus be ready to build an installation of offshore wind turbine blades, creating around 650 direct jobs.

In addition, GE Vernova, GE’s portfolio of energy businesses, has proposed to develop a factory for building the nacelles, the part that houses the production components of a wind turbine. This second facility would create approximately 220 direct jobs.

The two facilities would thus produce components for the next generation of GE’s Haliade-X offshore wind turbines.

“Our approach will also help advance sustainable development practices in the state and beyond,” GE said.
