In addition to Norway and Uzbekistan, in the past year the company has also found new export customers in Ireland, Turkey, the Netherlands and Kazakhstan with cream cheese, cottage cheese and ice cream products. At the same time, the company has tripled its export volumes to Poland, Moldova and Estonia.

Irēna Holodnaja, general director of “Food Union” in Latvia, relates this to the resources invested last year in attracting new export partners, for example, participation in several foreign food exhibitions and the reception of potential partners in “Rīgas piena kombinata” in Latvia.

“In 2023 and beyond, export will continue to be one of our company’s strategic priorities, as both our own production capacity and the volumes of raw milk produced by local farmers are significantly greater than what is needed for local consumption. From now on, our export product portfolio will not only be in Latvia popular milk, ice cream and HoReCa products, but also specially developed private label products according to customer requirements,” she informs.

Currently, “Food Union” exports dairy products and ice cream produced in Latvia to more than 20 countries around the world. By volume, the largest export market is Azerbaijan, where “Food Union” occupies a leading position in the sour cream category.

Ukraine has again become the second largest exporting country in terms of volume, where before the war “Food Union” sold significant volumes of cream cheese, at the beginning of the war it stopped supplies completely, but returned as soon as it was possible.

In terms of volume, the export of “Kārums” curd cheeses to Great Britain is in third place. In addition to these countries, the company’s export map also includes the so-called home markets where the group’s production plants and companies are located – Denmark, Norway, Estonia, Lithuania, Romania and China, as well as other Western and Northern European countries, Australia and the Southeast Asian region.
