Photos of Russian President Vladimir Putin wearing high heels have sparked wild conspiracy theories about the use of body doubles. Photo/Newsweek
The photo was taken last Wednesday when Putin was photographed with students of Moscow’s Lomonosov State University during a visit for Russian Students’ Day, or Tatiana’s Day.
Putin, who is believed to be around 5 feet 7 inches tall, was seen wearing shoes with extra thick heels to increase his height.
A Kyiv Post correspondent, Jason Jay Smart, shared photos from Putin’s visit that sparked conspiracy theories about Putin’s use of body doubles.
“Putin wears high heels. He does it whenever he’s with a group that ‘should’ be shorter than him (5’7″/170 CM),” Smart tweeted.

Unsubstantiated claims that the Russian leader used a body double, amidst rumors that his health was deteriorating, have been pushed to the surface many times including by the Ukrainian government.
In August 2022, the head of Ukraine’s military intelligence Major General Kyrylo Budanov said on Ukrainian television that Putin’s ears looked different in some of his public appearances.
Budanov said on Groshi on 1+1, a Ukrainian TV channel, that Putin’s habits, appearance and even height have changed.
