BOY ZONE – The Omicron XBB.1.5 subvariant has probably become the dominant variant in the United States.
According to data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released on Friday, the Omicron XBB.1.5 subvariant accounted for 61.3% of COVID-19 cases in the week ending January 28, 2023.

XBB.1.5, currently the most infectious variant, is a fork of XBB, which was first detected in October.
The now dominant XBB-related subvariant is from Omicron version BA.2.
