NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 is the most powerful GPU on the market. And when it came out, you could tell for sure that it was a real 4K GPU. However, the Dead Space remake is one of the first games in which this card failed to offer a stable 60fps at native 4K with ultra settings.
The good news is that the remake doesn’t suffer from any shader compilation lags. When you first start the game itself will create shaders. This is great news. However, there are a few noticeable stutters when moving around.
In terms of performance, the prologue scene ran at 50fps. As you can see, the RTX 4090 was at full capacity (100% usage) and there was no shortage of CPU. Luckily, once you’re inside the Ishimura, performance improves. However, there are some scenes – like when the Necromorphs attack your team – in which the frame rate drops below 60.
This basically means that DLSS 2 and FSR 2 will be essential for anyone aiming for really high resolutions. Yes, the game supports both NVIDIA DLSS 2 and AMD FSR 2. Moreover, there is support for Ray Tracing Ambient Occlusion.
Finally, because many have criticized the performance of The Callisto Protocol, this game performs MUCH BETTER than Dead Space. Without RT effects, The Callisto Protocol dropped to just 63 at native 4K/Ultra settings. On the other hand, the Dead Space remake could drop to 50. What’s more, The Callisto Protocol looks better.
