In the interview, the journalist in question asked how Jay Leno was doing after the incident in November. A fire then broke out in the presenter’s garage, causing burns to his body and face. “Funny you should ask,” Leno replied. “That was actually the first accident. Because last week I fell off my bike. I have a broken collarbone. I have two broken ribs. And two cracked kneecaps. But I am okay,” the presenter quickly added. “I’m okay, I’m working.”
The accident happened when Leno – who is passionate about motor vehicles – was test-driving an old 1940s motorcycle. During the ride he smelled gas, he said. “So I turned into a side street and took a shortcut across a parking lot. Unbeknownst to me, someone had stretched a wire across the parking lot with no flag flying. So I didn’t see it until it was too late. Bam, I was thrown off the bike. And the engine kept running. We all know how that ends.”
