Denmark hopes to replace the howitzers donated to Ukraine with Israeli weapons / Diena

The Danish Ministry of Defense announced on Thursday that negotiations are underway with “Elbit Systems” for the delivery of ATMOS self-propelled guns and PULS missile launchers as soon as possible.

The government indicated that the new weapons could be delivered to Denmark as early as this year.

Denmark ordered 15 howitzers “Caesar” from the French company “Nexter” in 2017 and four more in 2019.

Denmark has promised all the howitzers to Ukraine, but not all have been delivered to it yet.

However, this donation to Ukraine leaves a critical gap in Denmark’s defense, and the Danes must fill it with new weapons so that Denmark can provide protection and fulfill its obligations to NATO, Danish Defense Minister Jakob Elleman Jensen admitted.

Danish media reports that Nexter has advised Denmark not to change arms supplier, stating that the company is able to supply new howitzers.

“Caesar has proven itself on the battlefield in Ukraine, Danish soldiers know how to use them and they are compatible with the IT systems of the Danish army,” the company representative said.
