Emirates News Agency – Dhahi Khalfan praises the efforts of anti-drug teams and partners from government and private agencies

ABU DHABI, 27th January / WAM / His Excellency Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chief of Police and Public Security in Dubai, Chairman of the National Drug Control Council, praised the great efforts made by all control teams and various committees at the state level, in cooperation with partners from government and private agencies. , which had a great impact in thwarting many attempts to smuggle drugs, and confronting the innovative means used by dealers and promoters of these poisons.

His Excellency affirmed that the anti-government forces will stand in the way of all criminal attempts by gangs targeting the United Arab Emirates and its people.

This came during His Excellency presiding over the meeting of the Anti-Narcotics Council, which was held via video conference, in the presence of Brigadier General Saeed Abdullah Al-Suwaidi, Director General of the Federal Department for Drug Control, Vice-Chairman of the Council, the heads of the supreme national committees emanating from the Council, and a number of officials and directors of drug control in the country.

During the meeting, which was held remotely, a number of topics on the Council’s agenda were reviewed, the most important of which are the measures and procedures taken by the concerned authorities in the country regarding bank accounts linked to drug trafficking, monitoring and following up on suspicious banking operations to prevent the exploitation of personal accounts in promotional operations.

The results and statistics of the General Department of Ports Security in drug cases for the past year 2022 were also reviewed, and the number of seizures and the nationalities and data of the perpetrators, in coordination with the concerned authorities in the country.

The meeting reviewed the recommendations of the Committee for Monitoring and Reviewing the Tables of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances regarding the misuse of some medical drugs, and setting the necessary controls to prevent attempts to promote and misuse medical drugs in the wrong places.

The meeting touched on the ongoing preparations to participate in the Dubai International Conference on Drug Issues 2023, which will be held on the sidelines of the World Police Summit next March.
