Former U.S. President Donald Trump has criticized the U.S. decision to support Ukraine with its latest tank, the Abrams, saying it could “lead to nuclear war.”
According to Russia’s Sputnik News Agency, on the 26th (local time), former President Trump harshly criticized Ukraine’s resistance against Russia and Western support as a “crazy war” on his social media “Truth Social”.
“After the tanks come (to Ukraine), next will be the nuclear warheads,” he wrote. “Let’s end this crazy war now. It’s too easy to do that.”
Germany’s dpa news agency pointed out that Trump copied Russia’s response to Western aid to Ukraine.
So far, Russia has said that Western arms support will only escalate tensions and lead to nuclear war.
From the beginning of the war, former President Trump raised a skeptical view of Western efforts to support Ukraine and laid a counterpoint.
Trump also praised Russian President Vladimir Putin as a “genius” after he approved the independence of the eastern Donbas region just before the invasion of Ukraine.
The U.S. recently announced that it would provide Ukraine with 31 new Abrams M1 tanks.
