This operation is possible, then as now, precisely with the use of these extremely widespread instruments throughout the country but more generally throughout the European context, thanks to the diversified telematic instruments, such as Bancomat, Maestro and the like.
Cash withdrawals have always been in the “sights” of scammers and criminals who over time have developed diversified forms of more or less “refined” scams to gain access to our cash but more generally also to the information contained on the card.
In fact, the risk is that of not paying enough attention to these “tricks”, which can literally make us lose money and the possibility of using our account by cloning the card, a process that is simpler than one might think.
A common method is to tamper with some tools that are part of the ATM such as the slot for inserting the card which, behind an appropriate and often difficult to notice, tampering can be equipped with a tool such as the skimmer which suitably modified can actually “capture” the data of our card.
Other different remedies that have the same purpose consist in “spying” on the user while typing in the PIN or when withdrawing cash, therefore beware of any fake keyboards placed on the “real” ones but also the presence of small cameras, “disguised ” very often in places that are difficult to observe.
Even the slots used for dispensing cash can be suitably blocked with various tools, so as not to let the banknotes come out. For this reason it is always a good idea to check first, also remembering not to leave the place if the money is not delivered but to notify the bank immediately.
