On the 26th (local time), US special glass company Corning announced through a press release that the latest tempered glass ‘Gorilla Glass Victus 2′ will be used for the first time in Samsung Electronics’ next flagship smartphone.
Gorilla Glass Victors 2 is characterized by improved drop performance on rough surfaces such as concrete while maintaining the scratch resistance of the existing Gorilla Glass Victors.
In Corning’s own tests, it did not break when dropped from a height of up to 1 meter onto a rough, hard concrete surface. On the other hand, competing products, alumina silicate tempered glass from other manufacturers, were damaged when dropped from a height of less than 0.5 meters.
Like its predecessor, it passed tests up to 2 meters on asphalt and maintained up to 4x better scratch resistance than competing alumina silicate tempered glass.
