The former world number one and winner of two Grand Slam tournaments, Garbini Muguruza, received an automatic qualification card to participate in the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open Tennis Championships. The Spanish player won the French Open and Wimbledon titles on her way to the world number one in 2017, reaching ten Singles titles in her sporting career – including winning the 2021 World Tour Finals.
Muguruza is known for her attacking style that covers all parts of the court and her powerful groundstrokes, which qualifies her to participate in a group of the best international stars competing in the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open, which will be held from February 5 to 12 in the capital, Abu Dhabi.
The tournament is held within the 500-point classification of the Professional Women’s Players Association, and is hosted by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council in partnership with Mubadala, to be the first official tennis tournament in the capital at the Abu Dhabi International Tennis Complex, Zayed Sports City.
For her part, the 29-year-old player said: “I am very happy to participate in the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open Tennis Championship, and I thank the organizers again for giving me the automatic qualification card for the tournament.
