Maneskin, to his critics: “Our goal is not to convince anyone that we are authentic rock and roll” – Up to date

In a new interview with Classic Rock (via Ultimate Guitar), Damiano David, vocalist of Maneskin, and Victoria De Angelisbassist of the group, have spoken about the keys to the success of the young Italian band and, in addition, they have been honest about what they think of the fans who criticize them for a supposed lack of authenticity.

The Italian band is presented ‘Rush‘, their new album, when a little less than two years ago they won the Eurovision contest with their single “Shut up and Good”. Everything that has come since has been intense: the band has continued to release hit singles, tour all over the world and, a huge milestone, has even opened for The Rolling Stones.

“If we talk about the analog music of the last ten years, I think we have filled a gap that was empty. In addition, we play live when that is being lost and more and more backing tracks and DJ tables are seen”, explains Damiano.

“Maybe with Eurovision people saw that we were really playing. It was just the four of us making a lot of noise and music. I think that’s what makes us different from most mainstream artists.”

Later in the interview, Victoria has also stated what she thinks of people who describe Maneskin as a band that is not “authentic rock”: “When we play, people can be like, ‘This isn’t real rock because it’s on TV, so it’s bullshit.'”

“We don’t care, because if you really like music, you should judge it by what it is and not by where it comes from. Our goal is not to convince anyone that we are true rock and roll. We’re just doing our thing.”

“Especially when we’ve had the pleasure of playing with Iggy Pop, the Stones or Guns N’ Roses and they don’t care, so neither should anyone else. At least we don’t play trap or hip-hop!”

About ‘Rush’

With an extraordinary production job, here is the commitment to the groundbreaking sound, fast-paced guitars, forceful drums and a voice from the leader of Moonlight who openly covers complicated issues from the complaint to the experiences.

Point and part are gigantic ballads like “IF NOT FOR YOU” that commemorate that this group is called to trot, gallop and, whenever they want, take the reins and walk that tame and relaxed wild colt through their musical territory.

the silhouette of Moonlight he arrives as a wise new to rock and a current situation marked by Latin styles. Thus, you can convince the most away because they offer a natural closeness to a music in need of more. And, to say that they are here, they translate their native language, the Italianto the power of “MARK CHAPMAN” o “MAMMAMIA” remarking that there is no fear of anything and desire of everything repeating also in “THE END”. They also reserve their Italian for another time of calm among the storm,”THE GIFT OF LIFE”. Or the final tear for a key ballad, “THE LONELIEST” with a video clip that had an impact on us months ago, accompanying a classic but renewed style.

The result is more explosive than expected with 17 songs produced mainly by Fabrizio Ferraguzzo y Max Martin. It was recorded on three continents with as many key locations: The Angels, Italia y Tokio.
