Toyota is expanding its SUV lineup with the new Corolla Cross. We’ll see if the new model lives up to its famous name.
The Toyota Corolla is one of the best-selling cars around the world, and the name Corolla became known globally. This name is now also carried by one of the newest SUVs in the Toyota range.
Toyota Corolla Cross it sits between the CH-R and the RAV4. The car we tested came in a top trim, Exclusive, being a version that also offers all-wheel drive. The car uses a hybrid powertrain with a 2.0-liter gasoline engine that produces 197 hp.
On the outside, the Corolla Cross has the classic proportions and features of an SUV. The front includes a large grille and a slightly more prominent bumper. The headlights and fog lights benefit from LED technology, and the blue outline badge denotes the fact that we are dealing with a hybrid model.
On the side we can see that the car has black plastic protections applied to the body, and the rims that the car came equipped with measure 18 inches in diameter. The doors cover the sills, so when you get out of the car, you won’t get your pants dirty.
The rear has well-defined proportions, even massive for a compact SUV. The theme of plastic protections continues here. If we open the trunk, which on this equipment has electric drive, we will discover a volume of 487 liters.
The Toyota Corolla Cross SUV offers a lot of interior features
If we take a seat inside, we discover that the car has some comfortable seats, covered in leather, and the driver’s seat also has electric adjustments. In terms of materials, Corolla Cross conforms to the class norms. There are hard materials at the top of the board, but at the front, where you will touch them, they are soft. The car comes with heated steering wheel and seats, dual-zone climate control, and wireless charging for mobile phones.
The dashboard is fully digital and has several options for display and configuration. Also, its theme changes depending on the mode chosen.
The central infotainment screen has navigation and connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Even though the interior is quite dark due to the black upholstery, the panoramic sunroof brightens the cabin atmosphere. You can see more details in the video below.
