Luding County, Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province experienced three consecutive earthquakes this morning (26th), one of which was 5.6 on the Richter Scale with a focal depth of 11 kilometers.
According to China Central Television, the earthquake occurred at 3:49 a.m., and was felt strongly in Moxi Township, Luding County, which is located at the epicenter. Chengdu, which is 223 kilometers away from the epicentre, also felt strongly. After the earthquake, both Hailuogou Scenic Area and Ganzi Prefecture sent people to Moxi Town to carry out investigations.
According to the China Earthquake Network, two aftershocks of 4.5 and 3.2 occurred at 3:50 and 4:30 after the earthquake.
A 6.8-magnitude earthquake hit Ganzi on September 5 last year, killing 46 people.
