The Ministry of Culture is preparing to organize the musical play “Jamil Buthaina”, by the Caracalla Theater Arts Troupe, at the Jamil Buthaina Theater in Jeddah on Thursday, February 9, for a period of five days, to present the famous love story in the Arab cultural heritage, and how it spread among people in different eras.
The events of the play revolve around a love story that was born between Jamil and Buthaina in the Valley of the Villages in Al-Ula, where the first meeting took place between them, which began with insults to later turn into a way of meeting hearts, in one of the classic Arab love stories.
The script and dialogue for the play was written by Abdul Halim Caracalla, directed by Ivan Caracalla, and more than 300 preparers, writers, poets and others participate in the completion of the theatrical artwork, 40% of whom are Saudis, including six actors and two actresses, with 10 secondary actors in some scenes, along with Members of the Caracalla International Theater, which includes the most important theater and singing stars.
The performance of the play in the city of Jeddah is the second for it in the Kingdom, after the success achieved by the play in its first performance, which was organized by the Ministry of Culture last June at the Princess Noura Bint Abdul Rahman University Theater in Riyadh.
This comes within the framework of the Ministry’s keenness to attract the best leading international plays in the theatrical field to create opportunities for Saudi talents to participate with their counterparts in the world, in addition to providing an entertaining cultural activity suitable for various audiences, with what this guarantees from stimulating the theatrical field in the Kingdom and raising its standards. towards competitive levels.
